Philippians 3:13-14, 19 “…Forgetting what is behind, straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus…many live lives as enemies of the cross of Christ…Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things…”
Our priorities are revealed to us by how pale everything else is in comparison. Paul’s goal is to “know Christ Jesus” and he says that everything else is “garbage” by comparison. May our sole focus and goal in this life be to walk so closely and intimately with Jesus that the way we see God, ourselves, and others is completely transformed. May every other aspiration fade into our periphery as we fix our eyes on Him. We have one goal, and everything else is “garbage”.
