Simplicity is an exercise in trust. It forces us to adopt a faith-filled, eternal perspective on our resources. Jesus doesn’t command us to avoid acquiring wealth or “treasure”, he commands us to acquire the right kind of wealth and to store it in the right place. As we trust more deeply in God’s promises for eternity, our lives and hearts become less cluttered with stuff and more Christ-like in simplicity.
