Before Jesus, we offered our lives to sin- letting it tell us what to do and how to live. But this illusion of freedom is a trap that keeps us in a life of death. Romans 6 continues teaching us how to build a framework for living openly in the freedom of God. Not only has Jesus broken the chains of sin, but He wants to break the chains temptation. His invitation to keep us walking in freedom is called obedience. And this obedience is the gateway to walking openly in His freedom- to offer ourselves solely and completely to God, so that temptation can take no hold of us.
