The work of Jesus on the cross means this: we are no longer captive to sin’s demands! If we are included in Jesus’ sin-conquering death, it means that we can walk in His life. But that doesn’t mean sin won’t keep knocking at our door and seeking to take us captive once again… Romans 6 begins by challenging us to live nothing like we once did- not even entertaining our old way of living. To give sin no foothold or way in, instead Romans 6 calls us to walk out this new way of life whole-heartedly. To put sin and its power where it belongs- in the tomb.
