Paul commands the Thessalonian church twice in a span of 12 verses to “encourage one another”. The basis for this encouragement however is not “because you all are doing a good job”. In this context, Paul is really emphasizing the return of Jesus and the imminent restoration and resurrection that will come as a result. The most meaningful source of encouragement for believers is truth that God is coming back for his kids.
