Every person experiences highs and lows of varying magnitude in their lifetime. The magnitude of your highs and lows will depend on how much of your life you are evaluating. Last week, your high may have been that you ate a good steak. Last year, it may have been the birth of a child, a promotion, or retirement. Last week, your low may have been a flat tire. Last year, your low may have been a serious injury, a relational rift, or the loss of a loved one. The frustrating reality is that we often aren’t privy to the larger purposes behind these moments of bitterness or beauty. Very rarely can we see behind the curtain of God’s sovereignty and eternal understanding to realize why we’re experiencing the highs in lows of life. Scripture often answers our uncertainty not with why, but with who. In the book of Genesis, we meet a young man named Joseph who experiences extreme highs and lows throughout his life. We’re given glimpses of the why behind his highs and lows, but more than that, we’re reminded of who is with us in our highs and lows. In this series, we’re going to explore the life of Joseph to grapple with the will of God and his presence with us in the seemingly uncertain moments of life.
