Currents come suddenly and unexpectedly. One minute you’re enjoying the beach and the next thing you know everything has spun out of control. And this is what the last year has been like for many of us. When we are caught in a current, we look for any way to come up for air. For some of us we’ve been fighting these currents all our lives, yet for others, we’ve never felt the strength of the currents more than we do in this season. The apostle Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians how we can find comfort from God in the midst of the currents. That even in a world of currents, our life, our being, and our experiences can find their grounding in Christ. Make no mistake about it, the currents will come, but the currents can lead to a deeper reliance on the God who we’ve set our hope on. And we have set our hope on a Living God. He delivered us from death, has raised us up to new life in Jesus, and will continue to do so. No matter what comes our way, we have been given the power of the Holy Spirit to carry us in the currents, and transform us along the way.
