Oftentimes we don’t know God is all we need until God is all we have. And this is what Paul had learned in the midst of what he walked through. That currents can lead to reliance. We’ve set our hope on a Living God who has delivered us from death, has raised us up to new life in Jesus, and will continue to do so no matter what comes our way. And the currents will come. But we are not alone. Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. When we call for help from God and from His people, we can find the strength to weather any currents that come our way.
