Look around our culture today and you will see a lot of people cursing at each other, seeking to get revenge. You won’t find much harmony or peace. You’ll witness a lot of people who seem to think they know it all.
Christians are called to live in a completely counter-cultural way. In Romans 12, Paul writes, “Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them” and “Live in harmony with each other” and “don’t think you know it all” and never “pay back evil with more evil” or “take revenge.” Instead, “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”
In the past, that may have seemed like wise advice for righteous living. Today, it seems radical. In this message, we will call people to live out the radical way of Jesus and to overcome – as Paul writes, “Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
