Charlie and Faith were excited for their first child who was soon to arrive when Charlie caught Covid-19. Likely the delta variant strand, Charlie quickly became seriously ill after developing pnuemonia. He was sent to the ICU, where he later had to watch the birth of their daughter on Facetime from an iPad, only one floor above where she was born.
Charlie’s condition grew much worse, and they soon faced a reality that the statistics were very high that Charlie would not survive. Doctors explained that his only chance for survival was to undergo ECMO treatments, but that there was a long waitlist with complex requirements. As his condition worsened while they waited for an ECMO machine, his family was told that if he were to survive he would have severe brain damage due to the lack of oxygen his body was able to send to his brain, among other physical ailments he would have for the rest of his life. Clinging to the hope of the power of Jesus, Faith started a prayer chain that quickly grew thousands of people long.
Not only did God miraculously intervene to provide an ECMO machine at just the right time, among other medical treatments and procedures that “just so happened” to come at the right time, but his doctors were baffled that Charlie survived with no brain damage at all, and with only minor ailments that he eventually overcame completely. This incredible true story of divine intervention proved to Charlie that miracles are real, God cares about your life - and it ultimately revealed for him what truly matters.
