For ages, God had promised to send a Savior, a Messiah who would free God’s people from oppression. So, they waited for a ... political leader. They assumed the Savior would be a political king. Then something happened. Jesus showed up. He started proclaiming that He came to bring the Kingdom of God and many of the Jewish people were excited. But it eventually became clear that Jesus was not a political king, and this would not be a political kingdom. Because Jesus is our King, we don’t worry about election results the way people who are citizens of earth do. We know no matter which party holds office - our God still holds the world. And whoever becomes President on Tuesday with live with this truth in mind, Jesus will still be King on Wednesday.
