Every wedding includes an exchanging of vows meant to solidify one’s commitment to the other. And while the words in the ceremony are heartfelt, their true definition is revealed through the circumstances that follow. More often than not, when the circumstances arise, the culture around us cries out for comfort and convenience rather than commitment. But in the “better and worse” of marriage, the example of Jesus is what teaches us how to increase our commitment when comfort is nowhere to be found. By God’s power, vows aren’t just heartfelt exchanges for a day, but instead become holy commitments for life.
