From the series Strength and Courage
Joshua stood before the fortified walls of Jericho where there was every reason to be consumed with fear by what stood in their way. Yet God encouraged Joshua that He had already delivered Jericho into their hands. All that was required was to move forward in obedience with their next step. For seven days each step became a greater step of faith, and on day seven, God did as He promised He would. Through this, His people continued to discover that in God they could find the strength to face whatever walls stood before them. And the journey God was taking them on then, is one He wants to take us on now. Because on that journey toward the land of abundance, they began to experience a life of abundance that comes from the living God. And God’s character then, remains the same now in whatever we may face. Echoed through all eternity is the hope found in Joshua 21:45: “Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.” This promise that had spanned many generations, continues to live through us, and this promise invites us into a life of steadfast strength and courage.
