The Epic Battle is the third book in the new Mystery of the Ancient Map series that expands the world of The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls, but it can be thoroughly enjoyed by readers not familiar with Peter, Mary, and Hank’s previous adventures.
When Peter, Mary, and Hank investigate another red X on their ancient map, their search takes them to Mt. Tabor where a scroll whisks them back in time to meet the prophet Deborah who is preparing the Israelites for battle against the Canaanites. It’s a battle of epic proportions as Deborah rallies her army, and the kids and their trusty dog are swept up in the action even as they try to solve the secret of the scroll. Meanwhile, in the present day, it seems like someone is trying to sabotage Great-Uncle Solomon’s museum exhibit and maybe even steal the ancient map. Who is the mysterious figure known only as The Collector, and can the kids uncover their identity before it’s too late?
